What We Do

The Rotary Club of Seaside is composed of business and professional people from many walks of life, with a variety of interests and a passion for service. So, we do a lot of things.

We help children and families locally, and in villages around the world.  We help develop then support parks in Seaside and Manzanita. We bring entertainment and fundraising, with an annual auction-dinner, desserts and wine tasting, and a crab feed. Here are a few of the agencies or nonprofits we collaborate with or fund:

  • Headstart, we provide books and appliances, and our members donate computer gear
  • Schools and police, providing backpacks and supplies for needy school children
  • Dictionaries for every 4th grader from Arch Cape to Gearhart
  • Senior center, providing requested electronic entertainment for Seniors
  • Parks and Public works to provide new playground equipment at Broadway Park and Goodman Park
  • Purchase or assemble, and wrap, presents for hundreds of needy families, spreading Christmas joy to needy children, in collaboration with banks and Oregon DSHS

These are projects we have done recently, or are doing as you read this:

  • books and educational supplies in Seaside, and also in Uganda and Bali, Indonesia
  • provide free dental services in mobile vans, for children who can’t afford but seriously need work on their teeth
  • provide fresh water and toilet projects on Sumba Island, Indonesia, at an orphanage in Myanmar, and for schools in Bangalore, India
  • plant trees to reforest abandoned farmland and celebrate people in our community
  • assist parents in a safe alchohol-free graduation party for Seniors
  • form clean-up crews for Highway 101 and Goodman Park
  • give seniors orthopedic appliances, eyeglasses, residence ramps and games
  • organize and promote fun community events like the Rotary Dinner-Auction, A Sweet Affair, wine tasting, dinner theatre and more
  • organize life-changing Youth Exchanges in foreign lands with great cultures
  • … and we visit villages in other countries and bring help to those in dire need around the world, bringing fresh water and basic sanitation, administering PolioPlus vaccine, delivering mosquito nets to protect children and mothers from malaria, giving sewing machines with vocational training so women can be self-sufficient.
