INFORMATIONAL MEETING: December 1st CCC South County Campus @ 5:30pm
** print the Flyer - give it to others
Do you have an interest in helping out your community? Want to serve but can’t afford the time for weekly meetings? We have an answer – a flexible vehicle for you to make a difference in your community – the North Coast Rotary Community Corps.
This is an informal group that shares a common commitment – giving to our community – without all the rules or structure of a Rotary club. There are no dues, no fixed meetings, and at all times you get to choose whether and how to participate in any project.
Started by the Rotary Club of Seaside, the initial leaders are:
- Joyce Stuber of Sterling Savings
- Alan Evans of Helping Hands, and
- Stew Martin of Spindrift Inn in Manzanita
Others are welcome to step up and join in the organizing and leadership. Oh, and to be clear – by “community” we mean to include any part of the North Coast, say from north of Gearhart to Manzanita, from the Ocean out to Elsie. Sometimes rural areas need more help, so we’re reaching out for both their members and project ideas.
Here’s how you can participate:
- first, let one of the leaders know “I’m interested”; email, call or stop by to visit.
- second, think about what you, your company, professional practice, organization, church or school can contribute to a project: funds, equipment, contractor skills, help with logistics, project management, and volunteer time (from one to many) – then let us know.
- third – come to a gathering, and participate in the discussion; the energy comes from within the group. Here is flyer, you can print, email to others, hand out.
Each project will be decided by the group, based on what needs and opportunities are presented, who cares about doing them, and whether all the resources line up to make it come together. ”Resources” includes funds, equipment, permissions, and most important – volunteers. Potential partners in service include other service organizations, churches, contractors, cities, parks, libraries, and more.
While most funding will come from the Community Corps itself, project by project, it’s leaders may also submit requests for funding to the Seaside Rotary Foundation.
So, think about it … and if you’d like to give back, serve, help organize, or donate to better our North Coast community – jump in! The water’s fine.
